Brian A Fallon is a physician and a psychiatrist with a particular interest in anxiety and in the neuropsychiatric manifestations of infectious diseases. Having graduated from Harvard College and Columbia University's Schools of Medicine (MD) and Public Health (MPH), he now directs the Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases Research Center at the Columbia University Medical Center. While his initial work was on hypochondriasis, he switched his primary focus to the brain manifestations of infectious and immune diseases. A particular research priority is on helping patients with previously treated Lyme disease who are struggling with chronic symptoms such as brain fog, memory problems, fatigue, mood problems, and neuropathic pain. He and his colleague Dr. Sotsky and others recently wrote Conquering Lyme Disease to provide hope to patients, guidance to physicians, and clarity on the Lyme Disease controversies -- including its manifestations, diagnostic tests, and treatment. Dr. Fallon has presented before the Centers of Disease Control, the Institute of Medicine, members of the U.S. Congress, as well as for public health agencies of Canada and Great Britain. His work has been hailed by leading scientific journals, including Lancet, Nature, and the New Scientist.
