Dr. Judith Lentin

Hi, my name is Judith Lentin. At 75 I am no spring chicken, but I have lots of experience that can be of use to you.

I was born and raised in Iowa in the US, but have not returned since I left at the age of 18. I have lived in Missouri, Texas, England, California, Russia and Canada. In every place I have lived – I have learned.

I received my PhD in Geology in England and I have always worked in the oil industry. I switched from science to training is the mid 1980’s when the oil and gas industry was laying off specialists who were considered “old” at 45. I was able to turn the mass of underemployed specialists into a team of mentors assigned to international joint ventures around the world.

In the 90’s I started giving seminars in companies on mentoring and setting up guided mentoring programs, but I was not happy with the results. Mandated mentoring programs in companies are literally forced on the staff because someone in head office thinks it will be good for them.

For mentoring to be successful the protégé must want a mentor. More importantly the protégé must seek and find his or her own mentor. This is not how mandated programs work - unfortunately. I have now written a book that provides a step-by-step system for finding mentors, using them and leaving them so that both the mentor and the protégé are winners.

I have always kept journals. I love having specialized journals so I can keep various subjects apart. This style of journal is hard to find so I have started a new project of publishing journals and diaries for specialized subjects. I hope you enjoy them.

After retirement in 2013 I made the awful discovery that I had failed to realistically plan for my retirement. I was too old to get consulting contracts to add income and I was simply too tired to dream up the great ideas that had marked my consulting for years. I decided to try internet marketing. I figured it would be really easy because I had 40 years of successful business experience behind me.

I was completely wrong. The world of business has changed - completely. People who were successful in the 70's - 80's & 90's are really lost in the 2000+ era. Most of us don't understand the young people we speak with, the vocabulary is unique.

I recently purchased an Apple iPad Pro and booked training with the young Apple experts at the Apple Store. There were 9 older adults sitting around the table, most were over 65 years old, but it is not polite to ask. Our teacher arrive, dressed like skate boarder with dread locks, and began by introducing himself and telling us why we should trust him. Within seconds the 65+ audience was glancing at each other trying to see if anyone understood. The kid spoke so fast it was clear he wanted to be somewhere else, he flicked through pages so fast we couldn't possibly keep up. At the end of 20 minutes the class was finished and our teacher asked for questions - There weren't any and the kid wandered away. We of the 65+ set sat around the table asking each other if anyone had understood anything.

It is my opinion that for older individuals to become involved in internet marketing they need guidance from someone who speaks their language thus I have recently published "A Seniors Guide to Making Money Online" in simple English. Enjoy my friends.
