My given name is Shao Kai, and I go by Alex. I was born in Taiwan and raised in Canada, and currently serve as Research Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Zhejiang University, China. Having completed a Double Major in Physics and German at the University of British Columbia, I continued on to pursue theological studies at Regent College (MDiv, 2008), Princeton Theological Seminary (ThM, 2009; supervisor: Professor George Hunsinger), and the University of Oxford (MSt, 2011; DPhil, 2014; supervisor: Professor Joel Rasmussen). I am happily married to Jasmine Cheung, a Shanghai-based fashion designer and tea connoisseur.
Aside from academic aspirations, my next career goal is to own a Mexican restaurant, so that I can have tamales for lunch every day.
