ANOIR OU-CHAD

Anoir Ou-chad is a Moroccan author, lecturer, poet, and therapist with over 15 years of experience in education. His teaching career has taken him across the globe, including Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom, where he has been recognized by numerous academic institutions. He lectured at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, teaching social anthropology and Middle Eastern culture at various bases both domestically and internationally. Currently, he works as a freelance lecturer, teaching Travel and Tourism, Business, and Public Services at colleges throughout the UK.

As a columnist for L’Opinion newspaper, Anoir has published numerous poems, quotes, and articles addressing important social issues such as the exploitation of women, human rights, discrimination, and tolerance.

While he began an MA in creative writing in 2016, he ultimately chose to pursue his writing independently. He said: “Taking a creative writing course is like snorkeling in a pool nearby Tubbataha.” A strong advocate for autodidacticism, he believes that knowledge is readily accessible to everyone in the digital age.

Anoir's debut novel, Lemon Twist (2019), explores the psychological impact of sibling loss within a contemporary, multicultural context. Set in North Wales, London, and Dubai, the novel encourages readers to examine their own perspectives on the world and fosters an appreciation for multiculturalism.

In 2022, he released his poetry collection, The Alien, which delves into the complexities of human emotions, memories, desires, and perceptions. The poems explore the internal conflict between ethical dilemmas and personal desires, inviting readers to share in the characters' struggles, relationships, and views on society and life. The Alien tackles sensitive themes including alienation, existentialism, suicide, abuse, gender identity, sexual orientation, domestic violence, separation, mental and physical illnesses, and loss.

In his leisure time, Anoir enjoys walking in the woods, playing guitar, composing melodies, and jokingly pursues a career as "the worst singer ever." He is currently working on four projects: a fiction novel, two non-fiction books on psychology and spirituality, and another poetry collection.
