Geoff Brown has been a student, soldier, programmer, banker, consultant, and author. His first published book was a genealogy (of John Hodgkin, of Guilford, CT, circa 1660) back in the 1980s. Since then, his main interest has been local history, particularly that of northwestern Connecticut. His business, Between the Lakes Group LLC (www.betweenthelakes.com), founded in 1999 and named for the road where he lives in Salisbury, Connecticut, locates and makes available to researchers out of copyright, out of print historical materials. He has also continued to write books, the most recent of which is a comprehensive history of a local Episcopal church in its historical context. Geoff, as noted, lives in Salisbury, Connecticut, with his wife, who is also active in the business.
The Lakeville Journal recently said of his previous book, "Lakeville Crucifix", "It's an engrossing story of centuries of church history and societal divisions in the hands of a skilled historian who brings local history to life with impactfully dramatic writing. You'll know the read was successful because the facts will stay with you." We say "Thanks, Lakeville Journal!!" Geoff is also active in and a Director of the Friends of Beckley Furnace, a local historical organization involved in the history of the long-vanished iron industrial history of the area.
