Marcy Miroff Rothenberg

Marcy Miroff Rothenberg writes about issues, movements and politics with any eye to their impact on women's rights and opportunities, blogs regularly at DemWrite Press, and is an op-ed contributor to southern California publications. Although Rothenberg never landed her dream job -- the post held by CJ Cregg, Press Secretary to President Josiah Bartlet on "The West Wing," she's written "Ms. Nice Guy Lost - Here's How Women Can Win" so that today's girls and young women can become CJ...or whoever and whatever they choose to be, and so their parents and mentors can help them get there.

Rothenberg holds a bachelor's degree in political science (politics & public opinion specialization) from UCLA, and a master's degree in journalism (thesis research into women's political campaigns/campaign communications/party support). She has taught news, feature, opinion and public relations writing at both schools. Her career has encompassed work in corporate, non-profit, higher education and professional services communications and public relations; as well as freelance and ghostwriting work and communications consulting.

Rothenberg moonlights as a political and community activist, and has volunteered for campaigns since her first work as a high school volunteer on Bobby Kennedy's 1968 California presidential primary. In 2008, she volunteered as a rapid response writer for then-candidate Barack Obama's presidential campaign, providing messaging to the campaign's state directors as a member of its National Urban and Metropolitan Policy Committee.
