Penny Cloft worked at Pratt & Whitney (aerospace, designs, manufactures and services aircraft engines and auxiliary power units) for 35 years. She started as a design engineer in commercial engines and retired as the Senior Fellow Discipline Lead for Systems Engineering. Through out her career Penny enjoyed assignments that allowed her to apply her passion for improving processes and communication. As Senior Fellow Discipline Lead she was asked to help improve the engine product development process. Aircraft engines are very complex systems within systems. In this environment cross communication (internal and external), timing of data release and understanding how one system impacts another is critical. Searching for solutions Penny studied how other companies run their development processes. This hooked her up with Michael and Brian Kennedy and after working on Pratt & Whitney's development process they wanted to share their learnings by writing "Success Is Assured." Now retired, Penny is still looking to improve processes, including redesigning her kitchen, office and closets so she can reduce the time to manage a household and spend more time on the things she enjoys!
