Linda Chambers

Linda Chambers has been involved throughout her life in the theatre and film/video business as an actress, a director, a producer, and a production coordinator, but primarily, in one way or another, as a writer. While living in New York, she began writing short stories and an epic fantasy novel, then put both away to earn a living. She did that by writing everything else: plays, screenplays, how-to videos, industrial, commercial, government and college recruitment films. Back in her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland, she added teaching to her resume: screenwriting and playwriting on both the high school and college level, as well as a variety of theatre courses and she began directing in community and academic theatres.

The wheel turned full circle. Her passion for the epic fantasy novel she dreamed of completing so long ago returned. She went back to work and, with Kathleen Barber as editor, completed Book One of “The Swords of Ialmorgia," available on Amazon Kindle in three parts. She continues working on Book Two while assembling maps and additional descriptions of her fantasy novel's vast landscape as well as pursuing other creative outlets.

Most recently, Linda created the illustrations for "Sophie the Monarch Butterfly: Mission to Mexico!", a children's book by Celia Straus. Her artwork brings the plucky youngster and her kaleidoscope of butterflies to life as she leads them through storms, predators and poisoned to complete the incredible journey of the monarchs from Canada to Mexico. "Sophie the Monarch Butterfly is now available on Amazon in both paper back and hard cover.

Linda’s short story, "The Legend of the Waxing Crescent Moon" can be found in the Cat & Mouse Press Publishing's Beach Holidays collection (her fifth for Cat & Mouse) and Fae Corps Publishing's horror anthology, Darkness Screams: Howling Deep, will present "The Dormer" (her second with Fae Corps). She is honored to be included in a special volume of memories entitled "Grandmother's Wisdom," edited by Patricia Harris. She is thrilled to have had stories published previously in the award winning anthologies published by Cat & Mouse Press: “The Ginger” in Sandy Paws (Second Place Award from the National Federation of Press Women) and “The Ship To Grey Havens” in Beach Mysteries (First Place Award from the NFPW). All anthologies are available on Amazon and in bookstores.

Both screenwriting and playwriting continue to occupy her attention. Three children’s plays have been produced by Pumpkin Theatre: “The Princess Adventure”, a new take on princesses and their nemeses; “Little Red,” a slightly skewed view of Little Red Riding Hood and a philosophical vision of Jack & the Beanstalk. She is currently at work on a reimagining of “The Emperor’s New Clothes." The Young Filmmakers Workshop produced three of her short screenplays, with high school and junior high school students acting, directing, shooting and editing the pieces, under the guidance of professional filmmakers.

She is working as writer and director with actress Janel Bosies to bring Mary Harris (union organizer "Mother Jones") to life on both stage and screen in a one-woman production entitled "Let The Fight Go On."

Linda looks forward to uninterrupted time with Paige, as the young warrior continues her search for identity, gripping the swords forged in mystery as she makes her way deeper and deeper into the heart of Ialmorgia.
