Cindy is an author, speaker and has been a compassionate advocate for women and children for almost thirty years.
She worked in shelters and volunteered reaching out to domestic violence, rape victims, and children through child abuse programs in local schools.
Cindy’s own abuse as a child led her on a healing journey with God. This gave her a desire to see other women heal and grow in their faith, so they too could become victorious over their past.
Helping homeless mothers to heal from past wounds caused by abuse and achieve self-sufficiency was a passion for Cindy Smith when she founded Living Hope Transitional Homes in 2004, where she served as the director for eleven years.
Living Hope for Today was founded in 2017 to empower women and children by breaking the cycle of abuse through education and community support. Living Hope for Today provides resources through the books and programing Cindy has developed.
She wrote Whispered Truth, a novel based on true events of abuse, forgiveness and hope along with the Whispered Truth Bible Study Journal. Whispered Truth won the Gold Illumination Award from the Jenkins Group. It was also a Finalist in the Fiction category from National Indie Excellence Award.
Cindy’s children book, Isabella’s Treasure, Empowering Children with Body Safety, won the Mom’s Choice award in 2020.
Isabella’s Treasure has morphed into a child abuse prevention program called X Zone Body Safety for preschoolers to 3rd graders.
Cindy is also a Darkness to Light, Stewards of Children facilitator and can present child abuse prevention information that will help adults recognize and respond to abuse.
Cindy enjoys traveling to warm places and scuba diving. She is an empty nester and lives with her husband, Mike, they have three children and five grandchildren.
