Steven H Harlem

Steven Harlem was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended local public schools but ssemed to express a natural inclination to question how and what was being taught. Eventully, he obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and attained National recognition as an educator. He he is a a professional in the areas of clinical, neuropsychology and school psychology. He has been and is still sought out as a lecture in both the mental health and geratric fields- fields where he is known as a creative and effective innovator in program development and implementation. He holds a patent for a garment to aid in stroke rehabilitation. He has received numerous awards and honors; is experienced with populations across the age range including research with infants. He retains his passion for teaching and his book, "The Courage to Think Differently" reflects a continuing passion to encourage people to question existing dogmas in many fields. He feels a strong obligation to help improve the quality of public education in our Country. He stresses that a true education must develop the emotions as well as the intellect while embracing the the unique, the sensitive, and the curious while feeding the student' hunger for life. Student's should experience an atmosphere of acceptance that is related to the social and economic life of the learner and not an adherence to routine.
