Maria Masington

Maria Masington is a poet, author, and spoken word artist from Delaware. Her poetry has been published in over a dozen publications including Winter in America (again), The Survivor’s Review, Adanna, Highland Park Poetry, 100 Poets Remember 9/11, Earth's Daughters and by the University of Colorado. She co-edited The Cicada's Cry, a haiku publication and received Honorable Mention for the Dogfish Head Poetry Prize in 2016. Her Poem "Carnival Goldfish Boy" won the Downtown Dover Ekphrastic poetry prize in 2020

Her first chapbook Mouth Like a Sailor was published by Parnilis Media in September, 2021 and is available on Amazon.

Mouth Like a Sailor won 1st place for poetry chapbook by the Delaware Press Association and by National Federation of Press Women. Her second chapbook, Coronation Chicken, was released by Parnillis in June, 2025.

She’s had two publications with Smart Rhino Publication. Her short story "Impresario" appeared in the anthology Someone Wicked and her story “Bark of the Dog Faced Girl” was in Plague of Shadows. Masington also has had three short stories published by Cat and Mouse Press. “The Triple Mary” is in the anthology Beach Nights, and “Hook, Line, and Sink Him” appears in Beach Pulp, and "The Admiral and The Ensign" appears in Beach Dreams. "Two Pints of Rainbow" appeared in Strukturris out of Cork, Ireland. Her first published piece of creative nonfiction appears in Rooster in the Hen House.

Maria is a member Mad Poet Society and is active in the local art scene. She serves as an emcee to support writers from the novice to the established!
