Ruth Rogers Beasley

Ruth Rogers Beasley was born and raised in Canadian, Texas, briefly attended Goddard College in Vermont in the early ‘70s, and spent 20 years in Boston becoming a freelance typesetter before returning to Texas in 1999. Living in a remote farmhouse near Canadian, Ruth developed an abiding interest in birds, and began a newspaper column for The Canadian Record called "Learning the Birds" which became a 4-minute radio feature that aired for 11 years on High Plains Public Radio. During this time and with her late mother’s help, Ruth grew in appreciation of her pioneer heritage. This ultimately lead to the publication of "Memory Cups of the Texas Panhandle" and "The Jones Girls of Wheeler County, Texas." She now lives in central Oklahoma with her husband, watching birds, doing genealogy, mastering string figures, and working on a novel.
