Amber Byers

Amber Byers writes poems the way young children capture fireflies—with wonder, thrilling excitement, and a reverent understanding that these beings only visit us for a short while before they must be released into the darkening night.

As the founder and managing editor of Tadpole Press, Amber runs the internationally renowned Tadpole Press 100-Word Writing Contest, Mini Moon Contest, and Tadpole Press Literary Magazine. Celebrating creativity and community is at the heart of it all.

Amber has published the following writing: The Magic Door Origin Story, Sophie and Spot, Living a Life Imagined, and features in The Compassiviste Anthology and The Write Stuff.

Amber’s work is informed by her identity as an agender and biracial person. She is a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and would love to tell you the story behind her Indian name, Nijgan Bamsid Manidog.
