Shari Berg

Shari L. Berg has known she wanted to be a writer since she was old enough to hold a pencil in her hand. From poetry to short stories, feature stories and blog posts, Ms. Berg has spent a lifetime crafting her art.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Pittsburgh in May of 1996. During her college career, Ms. Berg worked in several positions within the student newspaper, including writer, copy editor and lead photographer/photo editor.

Upon graduation, Ms. Berg worked as a professional journalist for several daily newspapers for more than 12 years, including the Lewistown Sentinel and the Butler Eagle. She also has written for several print and online publications in a freelance capacity.

Ms. Berg is an award-winning writer, having received a Golden Quill Award for Journalism in 1998 for a story on the Ku Klux Klan’s visit to Butler County, and another in 2004 for a series of stories written on the topic of domestic violence. Ms. Berg also received the John Fiske McHugh Award for Journalism in 1996, which is given to a Journalism student who shows exemplary work in an advanced reporting course. She received the recognition for a senior research project on the topic of publishing rape victims’ names in the media.

Ms. Berg is the owner of The Write Reflection, which provides public relations, marketing, copywriting, website management, research and other content-related services.

Ms. Berg resides in Pittsburgh, Pa. with her family.
