Tony Adam

Tony Adam was born in Southport, England and trained as a cabinet maker/carpenter before joining the RAF in 1977. On returning to civilian life in 1989, he worked briefly in a furniture factory before becoming a lecturer in English Literature and Religious Studies at Bradford College of Further Education. He also taught Philosophy in schools and spent 17 years with the Open University. He lives in Southern Italy with his wife and grey cat and is now officially an old-age pensioner.

Tony Adam has been a passionate music fan since he first learned to whistle Joe Meek’s ‘Telstar’ back in 1962. He was a part-time rock DJ in the ‘70’s and has made numerous failed attempts to play a range of instruments. He likes most kinds of music but has a particular fondness for jazz, progressive rock and soul. As well as music he enjoys good beer, TV comedies (from 'Dad's Army' and ‘Sgt. Bilko’ to ‘Taxi’) and watching his local soccer team. He also has an interest in ‘60’s cinema (Sidney Lumet, Joseph Losey, Michelangelo Antonioni) and his favourite film is Lumet’s ‘12 Angry Men’.
