Dr. Mary Powell, PhD, LCSW-R, NCPsyA, is a psychotherapist and adjunct professor. She has treated numerous adults, adolescents, children, families, and groups in psychoanalytic and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) for twenty years in both private and public practice. Dr. Powell has presented at several professional conferences on the importance of self-care in clinicians, DBT, and mindfulness in social work education. She received a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Contribution to Social Work Education and a Certificate of Achievement in recognition of Clinical Excellence in the Field of Social Work.
Her doctoral dissertation received the Reverend Doctor Langenfeld Award for the Most Outstanding PhD Dissertation.
Through extensive personal psychotherapy and her professional work, she has been able to conquer the effects of bullying in youth, a phenomenon that is in need of attention and intervention. She lives with her husband in Staten Island, New York.
My next book will be, at this point, a memoir on selective mutism and child abuse.
