Barbara L. Hunter

Barbara L. Hunter is an avid family historian. She wrote her first book about her aunt, Rose Nimmo Engelhardt and Rose's immigrant family. Her next book is about the life of her grandfather, Orion Glenn Hunter, an Ohio farm boy, who ran away at 16 and who first traveled down the Ohio River and then down the Mississippi River to New Orleans.

Barbara has held a wide variety of interesting jobs. She has sold tickets for roller coaster rides at San Francisco’s Playland-at-the-Beach and has been the Assistant Director of the Oregon Employment Department.

Currently, she is trying to scale genealogical “brick walls” in search of her elusive ancestors. She also paints at her studio which is located just south of Salem, Oregon. She shows her paintings in the local Salem/Keizer area. She can be contacted at hunterbl1@comcast.net.
