Angandeep Kr Chatterjee

Angandeep Chatterjee is an award-winning bilingual author from Kolkata, writing across spy fiction, thrillers, detective fiction, psychological horror, and science fiction in both Bengali and English.

In Bengali, his work spans full-length novels, short stories, and contributions to pujabarshikis and Bengali literary magazines in India and abroad. His spy thriller Operation Black Cat (Boithek, Mathamotar Doptor, 2024) is regarded as one of the finest entries in the genre, while his science fiction novel Somoyjatri (Khoai Publishing, 2023; forthcoming in a new edition, 2026) has been well received in the Kolkata book market.

In English, his work falls into two distinct traditions. As an Indian writer working in English, he is the author of The First-Year Fiasco, a detective crime thriller and his English-language debut, and is currently developing The Escapades of Jayashis Dey, a detective series featuring Jayashis and Aratrika, alongside a psychological horror collection centered on Dr. Aarnay, a Kolkata-born psychotherapist practicing in Washington, D.C. He is also at work on a science fiction time-travel trilogy.

As a writer engaging Western literary markets, his short fiction has appeared in publications including Ariel Chart Magazine (The Thanksgiving Revenge), Egophobia (The Viral Thief), and Scarlet Leaf Review (Doctor Aarnay and the Case of Numbers), with The Game of Time forthcoming from Black Hare Press. In this vein, he is currently writing an archaeological adventure-action thriller following an Indian protagonist through international conspiracy, alongside two military action fiction novels currently in progress.

His short fiction has earned recognition across multiple contests and publications, including wins and placements at the Monomousumi Contest, the Pioneer Book Club Short Story Contest (The Stumping Stamp Box), and the Bookotopia Short Story Contest, in addition to national literary honors in India.

A Director of Quality Analysis by day and novelist by night, Angandeep lives in Kolkata with his family and enjoys reading and traveling.
