Dirk D Dykstra EdD

Dirk Dykstra (1961 – present) was born in Racine, WI, grew up in Paradise Valley west of Burlington, WI, and moved to Texas in 1978. He worked construction, managed restaurants, and finally entered education in 1987. He was an administrator for many years after first teaching grades one through twelve, college, and adult education.

He started writing short stories with his youngest son in 2005 and published his first in 2018 at the request of his family. He writes science fiction stories about people growing as they experience difficult situations.

His stories are designed for students, starting in middle school, and adults. He notes, “Our young people today need us to provide them with lights in the darkness to help them find their way to their own successes.”
