K.B. Bachelder

Ken Bachelder, writing as K.B Bachelder, was born in the small Oregon logging town of Cottage Grove in 1952. His original name was Kenneth Burton Hayes Jr. named after his father who was killed in a logging accident one month before he was born. He took the name Bachelder two years later after his mother remarried. After working his way through the local school systems he entered into the Timber Industry in 1970 following his father and step-father. Working his way up the ladder, in what is statistically the most hazardous profession, he broke into management in 1989. He retired in 2017 after nearly forty-six years working in the great woods of Oregon and Washington with the same company.

Ken inherited his love for reading from his mother and step-father who enrolled him in a book club at an early age. Reading everything from the classics to military history it was a chance encounter with Tolkien in high school that would eventually lead him to believe he could write in the adventure-fantasy genre. It would take him awhile. He started his first novel in 1990 but it would not be published until 2016. The Wish and the Waterfall was the first of a series. The second book Wolf, Witch, Warrior was just recently published. He lives in the country outside the same city as his birth and has since returned to his beloved woods as a Safety Consultant.
