Dan Kreft

My name is Dan Kreft, and I guess you could say that I specialize in challenging expectations and breaking from convention. I stand at a full seven feet tall, and I used to play basketball professionally.

Back in about 2003, God called me to teach 6th graders at Antioch Bible Church in Kirkland, WA. I took the assignment and immediately set out to co-author a brand-new curriculum to replace the hopelessly boring material the rest of the CE department was using. After a complete rewrite, the teachers (both of us) were happy, the kids were happy, the parents were happy...happy, happy, happy. But then Ken Ham came to our church and ruined everything--I bought two boxes of books to feed my addiction to apologetics, and the last book I read, Already Gone by Ham & Beemer, threw a huge wrench into my teaching routine. As I read that book, the Holy Spirit convicted me mightily, saying "Dan, I called you to teach. Are you part of the solution or are you part of the problem?"

I had to confess that I was part of the problem.

That Sunday, I confessed to the kids the same thing. I held up my beloved co-authored curriculum, dropped it on the floor, and said to my class "We're never going back to this again. What do you want to talk about?" Talk about scary...but God showed up and we had a great class and an amazing rest of the year.

Five years later, I started turning my lessons into a book (which is now three books) entitled "Jesus" Is Not the Answer to Every Sunday School Question.

I am available for guest teaching/speaking engagements.
