Neil Craton M D

Dr. Craton is a sport medicine consultant at Legacy Sport Medicine in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has practiced medicine for over 33 years. Dr. Craton received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Manitoba. His Sports Medicine Fellowship and Master's Degree in Human Kinetics were completed at the University of British Columbia. His Master’s thesis involved the development of a curriculum on musculoskeletal disorders for medical students. He has served as the Director of the University of Manitoba Musculoskeletal Fellowship since its inception in 1996. Dr. Craton is an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Winnipeg, Gupta School of Kinesiology and Applied Health. He has served as a Team Physician for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers since 1996, and the National Women's Volleyball Team from 1992-2017. He has served as the University of Winnipeg Varsity Athletics Team Physician since 1992, and was recently presented with the Dave Anderson Award for service excellence to the University's athletic program.

Dr. Craton has authored several book chapters and peer reviewed publications, most recently on the sociological phenomenon of concussion. He has lectured extensively, both in Canada and abroad, and is very involved in physician education. He was presented with the 2017 Educator of the Year Award from the University of Manitoba's Continuing Professional Development faculty.

Neil has served as a volunteer physician at the Saul Sair Health Center at the Siloam Mission for the last ten years. His goal is to provide medical care to the patrons of the mission every second Friday morning.
