Kyle earned money to start his first company, a commercial carpet cleaning business, by working on the oil rigs in Wyoming. After running this company for three years, he sold it and started an international freight brokerage in Kansas City, Kansas. He ran this company for nearly four years before changes in the market forced a creative exit.
He has gone on to start or invest in companies in the fitness, family entertainment, consulting, education, and research industries.
In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Kyle is an academic researcher, holding a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, a Master's in Business Administration, and is completing a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. His academic research focuses on the development of identity, purpose, and meaning, specifically emphasizing relationship systems for positive development.
Kyle is the Chief Innovation Officer at Challenge Journals, where he creates tools for relationships to thrive. He is also CEO of Spark Insight Partners, where he leads an interdisciplinary team of consultants, researchers, and trainers who deliver powerful professional development programs focused on the development of uniquely human skills. Some of the topics his team researches and builds programs on include strategic thinking, emotional agility, salience, systems evaluation, and adaptive planning. Kyle has personally facilitated strategy development for over 100 organizations and has trained more than 1,500 leaders on strategic thinking and leadership.
