I was born in Middlesbrough in 1953 going to Ladgate Primary School before Springfield Secondary Modern. I can't say that at that time I was good at school work preferring sport. I went on to work as a trainee book-keeper for British Steel before marrying and moving away from the area. Luckily after a number of years away I enrolled at night school at Teesside University where I gained a BA (Hons) in History and Politics.

I am a great Middlesbrough supporter but love watching rugby union, athletics, and almost any sport I can find.

I didn't start writing fiction until I retired from the civil service in 2009 where I had spent 22 years working all over the country.

My first novel "A Life of |Consequence" began as a two sided short story but the character wanted me to continue and so this became a novel. I was intrigued when readers asked when the sequel would be written, this was something I hadn't envisaged so set about writing "Grant My Last Request" which has the main character, Hannah, living in Australia.

I love travelling having being to many countries especially to Zambia where I work with a charity to encourage children, particularly girls, to gain an education. It now feels like a second home.
