John Stuart Watkins

John Stuart Watkins, retired teacher, ran two marathons, loves to write poems, short stories, children's books, and encourages others to publish. A poem is actually a book, just smaller.

Arizona State Poetry Society member, Tucson Poetry Society Past President, Society of Southwestern Authors, member, SaddleBrooke Writer's Club, member.

Stuart used to be an active rifle shooter and won a Gold Medal in the 1971 Pan American Games held in Cali, Columbia. While a student at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, he made All American four years in a row and was the Collegiate National Champion in 1963 in both the small bore and large bore catagories.

Stuart likes to tell people that he was the National BB gun rifle champion in 1969. The event is actually an air rifle, but the pellets are the size of bbs.
