Karen Thomas Wisdom

Karen Thomas was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She and her two siblings and parents moved to Illinois where she finished her elementary and high school years. She studied early childhood education and child psychology at Northern IL Univ in Dekalb IL, and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in 1981. Worked for eight years in photography sales until she met her husband and married in 1988. In 1990, she was blessed to have her first born son, Brooks. Unfortunately, he was born with severe heart defects that required a number of open heart surgeries to correct and improve the functioning of his heart.

Hopeful Hearts and Butterfly Blessings explains their experiences through the eighteen-year struggle of surgeries and post-surgical complications that eventually took his life. Because of her deep faith in God, He allowed her to see the miracles and good that can come from bad circumstances. She shares ideas on what helped her to move forward on her grieving journey.

Karen now lives in the Overland Park, KS area.
