Laurent Barraud

Wednesday April 15, 1970 remains an important date in the life of Laurent BARRAUD. That day, he received his first Pif Gadget, number 60 and his famous Pifises! He was not yet eight years old and thus began his first collection of comics which he continued until his teenage years. Twenty years later, with nostalgia helping, he plunged back into the world of Pif and decided to put together a new collection while carefully keeping (this time) a copy of each gadget intact.

In September 2011, he presented his first exhibition on "Pif Gadget" at the CRESPIERES BD Festival (78). It was there that he met Jean-Pierre DIRICK who suggested that he participate in the development of the book "Pif in Romania, a hero of the golden age" as part of the eponymous exhibition organized at the summer 2012 in BUCHAREST. In October 2018, a new collaboration between the two “pifophiles” gave birth to the book “Les Années Pif Gadget”. At the start of 2021, Laurent BARRAUD joined “Passion Pif”, a Facebook page dedicated to the Pif period of the 80s-90s and administered by Sébastien GERARD. The latter is working in parallel with the writing of a book on the behind the scenes of the editorial staff of the newspaper from 1981 to 1994. Laurent BARRAUD therefore naturally joins him to ensure the iconography with more than 600 visuals produced. This will be the birth of the book “The Story of Pif and his gadget – The adventure of the 80s and 90s”, available from March 6, 2024.
