Historical preservation and access at the local level is of the greatest importance to me. There is so much to be learned from the stories of the everyday people who one-by-one contributed to the big-picture history we are generally taught. World history seen through the lens of local history brings far away (and long ago) events up close and personal. Soldier by soldier, student by student, every experience and personality played a role in shaping larger events. Knowing those individual accounts makes history more relatable and captivating for all ages.
