David R. Greatrix

David Greatrix is an air force brat and Prairie boy who did most of his early growing up in Canada’s capital (Ottawa) and in Germany (Lahr), in addition to spending a good number of his formative years as a child and adult in Winnipeg. As a young adult, Greatrix studied and worked towards making his mark as a professional in the challenging field of aerospace engineering. After a number of years in the aerospace industry, he spent the subsequent twenty-five years of his career as a professor of aerospace engineering at a university located in a major urban center in Canada. Greatrix published a well-received textbook on aerospace propulsion in 2012 (Powered Flight). In 2018, Greatrix published his second book, Farewell to the Good Old Days, a cautionary tale that arose out of his own experiences in an up-and-down academic career. In 2021, Greatrix published his third book, Why Various Canadian Institutions Royally Suck, which is a political and historical narrative that is to some degree a sequel to Farewell to the Good Old Days.
