Rosie Lear

Rosie Lear has been writing all her life, but has only recently had time to work at this full time and in a more public way. A teacher for all her working life, she has owned a hotel, a children’s clothes shop, a health food store, broughtup four children, now all grown and flown and enjoys amateur dramatics and keeping her nose in a book!

The launch of the series was held in the Lady Chapel of Sherborne Abbey, where the first murder occurs. Follow Matthias Barton and his family as the series develops. There are now three books in this series, the first, Missal for Murder involves the Battle of the Fonts, which took place in Sherborne Abbey, and the second, A Quenchless Fire continues the saga with the fire in Sherborne Abbey. Both of these events are factual, as are some of her characters, blended skilfully with others of her imagination. The third book links Sherborne Abbey with the great nunnery in Shaftesbury, and continues the story of Matthias Barton , who has by this time taken in the injured soldier Martin Cooper, and is struggling with his affections for the Coroner’s daughter.

Following a year of book selling and author talks to local organisations, fans of Matthias will be delighted to learn that Matthias Barton book 4 is now with the publisher! Look out for “Spare the rod..” available soon. Thanks to Covid 19, book 5 has been started! Rosie is willing to talk with any group of people about writing and would love to hear from any other fans of Matthias!
