Steve Sorensen

Steve Sorensen was born in San Francisco, grew up in the San Joaquin Valley, and graduated from California State University at Fresno. He spent fifteen years supervising a backcountry crew in Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park, packing mules, falling hazardous trees, and conducting backcountry snow surveys. Later he spent twenty years writing feature stories for the San Diego Reader. He’s an avid surfer, backcountry skier, and kayak fisherman. He and his wife Claudia, who have three grown sons, now live on the east cape of Baja California Sur.

Sorensen's books include: Morning Glass: The Adventures of Legendary Waterman Mike Doyle; Heap of Bones: A Baja Surfer’s Chronicle; and A Branch of the Sky: Fifty years of Adventure, Tragedy, and Restoration in the Sierra Nevada.
