Philip A. Harrison was raised in Provo, Utah. He graduated from BYU with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in botany. He then obtained a Ph.D. in botany from the University of Georgia in Athens. Phil did post-doctoral study in New York and California, then took a position as a plant physiologist with the USDA at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
Phil and his wife, Kathy, spent many years teaching workshops on a cognitive therapy approach to emotional health. Just before Kathy passed away, she and Phil discovered the LDS-oriented Twelve Step program, Heart t’ Heart. Following Kathy’s passing, Phil married Colleen, founder of Heart t' Heart. Phil and Colleen have a combined family of 17 children and many grandchildren. They enjoy being full-time companions and sharing the Twelve Steps and their testimonies of Jesus Christ.
