My overall passion in the field of social work is academia and immersing myself in adjunctive and complimentary methods of contributing to the student process. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor & Director of Field Education at Stony Brook University and Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University. I've previously taught at Hunter College, Touro College's Graduate School of Social Work and Fordham University.
In addition to teaching, I am a Forensic Social Worker in private practice conducting court ordered Observation and Reports, Forensic Evaluations, Therapeutic Visitation, and Substance Abuse Evaluations. I have worked in governmental administration as Project Director overseeing the implementation of Nassau County Family Treatment Court and the Juvenile Drug Treatment Court. I have over 15 years' experience in the field of addictions and child welfare/permanency proceedings. I am an active member of the National Association of Social Workers, having been Delegate to the National Assembly, Nassau County Division Director, and member of the newly formed Social Work in the Courts Specialty Practice Section. I have participated in the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, the Coalition Against Child Abuse and Neglect's Child Protection/Substance Abuse Task Force, Nassau County Taskforce to End Homelessness, Father's Rights Subcommittee, and Early Assessment Subcommittees.
Specialties: NYS Licensed Social Worker (LMSW), NYS Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), NYS Certified School Social Worker, trained in Child Permanency Mediation, Moral Reconation Therapy and Strengthening Families. I have also completed the Fordham University GSSS/GBA, Executive Education Certificate, jointly sponsored by the Fordham Graduate School of Social Service and the Fordham Graduate School of Business Administration, and the NYS OASAS/OMH Integrated Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Certification.
I have also been creative being for some time now, engaging in meaningful dialogue through prose and poetry, and capturing the world via photography!
