A New Jersey native now living in Virginia, Joanne Cherefko honed her skill as a poet in college and created her most complex poetry following the death of her mother. Her earliest poems are abstract and expressionistic in form, while her current body of work smoothly blends a somewhat abstract take on lyrical descriptions of current events, man's connection to nature, and the power of love. Inspired by the Pandemic, her third book, Souls Tilled Like Soil, takes the reader on a journey from Isolation and Fear to Visions to Solace, and, lastly, to Redemption. It was released on Amazon on April 19, 2022.
She is currently a visiting poet and poetry teacher at Mountain Vista Governor's School.
She loves music, photography, poetry, her Cavalier Bella, and the love of her life, her husband Bud.
