Laura Conner Kestner spent 25 years in community journalism before deciding to pursue a career in fiction. She’s a Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and seventh-generation Texan.
Laura is the author of six books—five historical Christian fiction (Remember Texas, A Texas Promise, A Texas Moon, A Texas Secret, and Echoes of Texas) and Fair Haven, her first work of contemporary Christian fiction.
She is grateful for the opportunity to write novels (a childhood dream), and so grateful for those who are willing to read them.
Laura’s won several writing awards, including an ACFW Genesis Award, the Daphne du Maurier award for excellence in mystery/suspense, and a 2023 Selah Award (for A Texas Secret).
She is a three-time RWA GOLDEN HEART® finalist, a 2019 HOLT Medallion finalist, and a 2019 Will Rogers Medallion Award finalist (for Remember Texas) and a 2020 WRMA finalist (for A Texas Promise).
Laura is thrilled to say that her third book, A Texas Moon, received the Gold Medallion in the inspirational category of the 2021 Will Rogers Medallion Award Contest for excellence in Western literature and media, and Fair Haven received the Gold Medallion in 2024.
When she’s not writing, Laura enjoys photography, exploring/researching historic sites (and sharing the photos/info on Facebook), visits to museums, watching old movies, reading, and spending time with her family (especially the grandkids).
