Although I can create characters all day long, when it comes to talking about myself, I'm a closed book (pun intended). My parents are both retired educators and I was introduced to the written word from an early age. I spent summers in the libraries, had a subscription to Highlights and the Weekly Reader Book Club. We had bookshelves of books in our den. My sister and I even got the entire collection of Encyclopedia Brittanica for Christmas. I was immersed, submerged and then drown in the beauty of words. And I'm eternally grateful to them.

Words, like music, evoke emotion, hold power and tell a story. You can make someone feel anyway you like just by using certain words or phrases. There is power in the ability to do that. The challenge is to use your words carefully and wisely--not for your benefit, but for theirs.

I also enjoy reading, swimming, travelling, watching football and breaking down barriers and redefining the molds.
