Jay Wamsted

Jay Wamsted is a teacher outside of Atlanta, Georgia. He has taught both middle and high school, recently celebrating the start of his 20th year altogether. During that time, he finished a Ph.D. at Georgia State University and began writing essays and articles about the state of public education. After publishing a handful, he wondered, “Why not a book?” The Lockdown Artist is the direct result of this wondering.

He and his wife live with their four kids and an obdurate beagle. What free time he has left over after teaching, parenting, and writing, he devotes to music. He plays several instruments, and he is always on the lookout for the perfect cover band which might need a keyboard player.
