Antonello Rizzo

Antonello Rizzo’s publishing house was founded in 1989 and is specialized in the publication and the distribution of quality blacksmithing books in Italy.

His publishing house’s first book “Ferri Maestri” is sold in the USA by Artisan Ideas as “Gates and More by the Masters”. Antonello’s second bestselling book, “I Segreti della Forgia” has been newly translated and published in the USA by Artisan Ideas as “Secrets of the Forge: Beginning and Intermediate Projects for Blacksmiths”.

“Gates and More by the Masters” is a large (6+ lbs., 13.5-in x 9.5-in x 1.5-in, 400 pages) photographic reference book featuring hundreds of photos of Italian gates, banisters and railings forged between the years 2000 and 2007. The book’s little text is in Italian.

“Secrets of the Forge” was something completely new. It is an instructional book that was written in collaboration with 24 Italian artist-blacksmiths who allowed Antonello into their workshops to document all the processes and techniques and take all the photographs necessary to create a large, heavily illustrated, step-by-step hardcover manual with nearly fifty blacksmithing projects. The 2018 edition of Secrets of the Forge has been re-translated by Artisan Ideas and completely re-edited by Gerald Franklin.

In 2017, after 4 years of research and extensive travelling Antonello completed and published the long-awaited follow-up to “Secrets of the Forge”, entitled in its English language edition, “The Blacksmith's Project Book". This new book, translated and sold by Artisan ideas in the USA with technical editing by Gerald Franklin, picks up where “Secrets” left off. It has 20 projects for intermediate and advanced level blacksmiths. It has already received an extraordinary number of excellent editorial reviews from specialized blacksmithing journals and newsletters which are available to read on the “The Blacksmith’s Project Book” Amazon description page under EDITORIAL REVIEWS.
