Katarina Stenstedt (Kat) was born in Linköping, Sweden, and came to California with her family as a baby. When she was seven her family moved to Belgium, and then three years later to Tehran, Iran. At the start of the Iranian revolution in 1978, a few months into 7th grade for Kat, she and her family left Iran abruptly and returned to California. She spent the rest of 7th grade in culture shock at North Tahoe Intermediate, riding the bus to and from school along the shores of Lake Tahoe ... a "third culture kid" who thought much and said little.
She's been in California ever since. Kat has a Bachelor of Science in mathematical and computational science from Stanford (but don't bother asking her about math; she shed most of those brain cells long ago) and a Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction from San Francisco Theological Seminary.
Kat is interested in spirituality, writing, speculative fiction, creativity, and the ethics of technology. She's a technical writer, spiritual director, singer-songwriter, and member of Threshold Choir of the East Bay. She lives in Oakland and worships with Quakers.
