Larry Butchins

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, schooled in Durban: started in journalism as a cub reporter on Durban's morning newspaper, the Natal Mercury on the "routine" beat. Joined the Sunday Tribune Johannesburg bureau; covered celebrities, political scandals, military affairs and student riots. Lured into PR; eventually opened my own firm.

After a family move to Israel in 1987, I branched into Marketing Communication for Israeli high-tech. I also write articles, short stories, travel blogs and children's books - two of which have been published in the US and SA. I am also a professional actor and a founder of the Guild Theater in Ra'anana (Israel).

On the art of writing, screenwriter and dramatist Gene Fowler described it perfectly:

"Writing is easy. All you do is stare at a blank sheet of paper long enough, until drops of blood form on your forehead."

My wife, Marlyn and I presently live in Tzur Yitzhak, north of Tel Aviv: we have three grown children and three grandsons.
