Kolanda discovered her gift of writing and storytelling at an early age. She attended college to expand her knowledge and fine-tune her natural abilities. She has a Master of Science degree in Mass Media Arts and Journalism and a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication with a minor in English. She is truly a woman after God's heart. She shares her love of Christ through her monthly blog, Confessions of A Church Girl, her radio show and podcast, The Real Room, available on both PURE Radio, Jacksonville's Christian Station, and your favorite podcast platform, and through consistent encouragement and coaching of young women.
Kolanda is the founder of the Church Girls Movement, affectionately known as Church Girls Just Want to Have Fun. The movement was birth out of Kolanda’s struggle as a "church girl" to live according to Godly standards in a world that battled everything she believed. That war left her trying to discover how to enjoy salvation and live!
Through the Church Girls Movement, Kolanda serves young women by writing books that encourage, developing resources that educate, producing wearable goods that inspire, and hosting events to be a guide, a solution and a testimony. Kolanda believes authenticity and transparency are essential to transforming generational mindsets and creating paradigm shifts. For these reasons, she openly and boldly showcases her scars so others can avoid scars of their own.
Kolanda is an award-winning author and orator and certified life coach. In 2019, she received the ACHI Magazine Author of the Year and Orator of the Year awards. Born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Kolanda now resides in Jacksonville, Florida with her family.
