Born in Melbourne, I spent my youth around yachts and craft of varying types because of the family connection to sailing, before moving into club level Motorsport (Rallying) in my 20's. You didn’t have to be good (and I wasn’t) to have a great time with great mates.
Then life got in the way as marriage, family and work took priority until retirement allowed a new chapter to unfold.
Like all schoolkids I enjoyed making up stories and was a bit of a daydreamer, much to my teacher’s disgust! Producing the odd article about the guys I spent my weekends rallying with, was my introduction to formal writing. In the late 80's my working life involved shift work and I would pass the time during breaks on night shift, scribbling down ideas. Out of this came ‘The Adventures of a Mouse Called Meadow’ along with the beginnings of a thriller. But as life and careers moved on, both sat largely unattended, bar the odd tinkering and plot points for some 20-plus years. Living with a thriller in your head for that long is interesting!
‘The Adventures of a Mouse Called Meadow’ was my first foray into self- publishing. The books only role was to fulfill my late mothers dream of seeing it published, something she had encouraged me to do years earlier. It was special to her, and I am thankful that it come to life in 2018 before her passing in 2019.
I retired in 2020 into the one of the world’s longest COVID lockdowns and found myself allocated to the lounge as my wife and daughter worked and studied from home. I realised that this was the right time to revisit my novel and bring it up to speed with the times and technology of the day.
Now two re-writes later, 'A Failure To Act' will be available soon.
Greatest pleasure:
Has been watching my daughter become the most wonderful young woman.
What do I enjoy?
• Action movies and reading thrillers - You can just get lost in them.
• Photography in my youth, but I think retirement might rekindle it.
• Chilling in front of TV (sports, dramas, doco's and the list goes on)
• Eating out.
• The occasional holiday.
Favourite Saying:
“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing–absolutely nothing–half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
'The Wind in the Willows'
