Steve Corbett

Steve Corbett covered the 2005 Michael Jackson child molestation trial for the Santa Maria Times in California and Sky News in the United Kingdom. During the almost five years he lived on the Central Coast he wrote columns about murder, bigotry, the Hells Angels, immigration, farmworkers, politics, social injustice and other news.

For two decades as a newspaper columnist Corbett won dozens of state journalism awards on both coasts and hosted an

award-winning news talk radio show for a decade. Corbett also won a Scripps Howard Foundation national journalism award for his “outstanding service in the cause of a free press.” That service included getting arrested and charged with a felony for doing hardcore accurate journalism in America.

When he left mainstream corporate media in 2017 Corbett wrote Blood Red Syrah, A Gruesome California Wine Country Thriller, his first novel based on his Central Coast experiences. Weed Wine Magic, A Freaky California Cannabis Country Chiller, is the Blood Red Syrah sequel. Corbett’s second novel, Paddy’s Day in Trump Town, exposes the bigoted underbelly of Irish Americans living in Pennsylvania hard coal country and their crusade to keep Donald Trump in the White House. He also writes news columns, short stories, poems and essays.

Corbett, 73, is a 4th degree aikijujutsu black belt who practices daily meditation and yoga. He lives in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in a 100-year-old house loaded with hard wood and stained glass, a home he shares with his Ph.D wife, social justice activist and editor Stephanie Bressler
