Michael Coenen

Michael Coenen is a college professor of History, Philosophy and Theology. He has studied, taught, and written extensively on international conflict, wars of religion and the clash of civilizations, especially the The Troubles in Northern Ireland.

When writing "The Devil of Belfast", Michael Coenen's intention was to bring the confusion, frustration and complexities of The Troubles during the 1980s and 90s alive for the reader through the person of Mick McNabb, a young man who finds himself caught between living as a subject of the British Empire, and dying as a free Irishman.
