Susan Chenelle is supervisor of curriculum and instruction at a charter high school in Jersey City, NJ, where she taught English and journalism for nearly 10 years. She holds a master’s degree in Urban Education from New Jersey City University and is a doctoral student in Teacher Education and Teacher Development at Montclair State University. Her research interests are focused on teacher beliefs about literacy, culturally responsive pedagogy, and reflection as a driver for teacher learning.
With Audrey Fisch, she is co-author of the Using Informational Text to Teach Literature series. Their work explores how non-fictional, multimedia, and non-traditional text pairings can be used to unpack the relevance of traditional literary texts.
