Born in The Netherlands months before the outbreak of WWII, author Ella Evers‐Meinardi’s early years were marked by five years of German occupation. After liberation, reflections on the intensity of the war caused psychological scars which lead her to meditate at a young age, raising the questions of why we are here and why we die.

Once, during such deep ponderings, she finds herself suddenly in a world of expanded awareness in which Truth and Knowledge of the universe stands revealed before her. She realizes that she had touched upon the invisible realms from which all knowledge is born. The empowerment of this inner experience heals her from her war trauma.

After the author finalizes her studies in History and Library Science, she works for the Royal Library in The Hague. Her marriage to Harmen, a Dutch economist and banker, brings her to various overseas countries. In South America, their first child, a son, is born. While living several years in the Caribbean, a new banking position opens up for Harmen in San Francisco and by early 1973, the family moves to the U.S.A.

Tragedy strikes when, while awaiting the birth of their second child, Harmen is struck and killed while riding his bike home by a hit‐and‐run driver. The shock causes a major turning point in Evers‐Meinardi’s life, followed by an astonishing mystical opening of her third eye. Within two weeks of the funeral she gives birth to a daughter.

When the author and her children are about to relocate in the Netherlands, a mystical dream guides her to accept a marriage proposal of an American composer and the family moves to Oregon.

The author continues to struggle with grief and once more is asking why do we live and why do we die? She embarks on a spiritual journey to find the answers. She studies with a mystical school and alternative healing modalities and becomes a Master Healer. After many pilgrimages to India she finds an enlightened Indian Master from whom she receives initiation in Kundalini, the cosmic evolutionary energy in man. To support her many travels and spiritual endeavors, the author works as a real estate broker and an insurance financial advisor.

After Ella’s second husband dies from an excruciating lung disease, she resettles in California. Nine years later she finds that her attorney who had stood by her in the aftermath of Harmen’s death is still living nearby. Besides being an attorney, he is a musician of Northern Indian classical music. The acknowledgement that the spiritual is the core element of life, bonds them. They find many questions of life answered by the deep wisdom of the ancient scriptures, The Upanishads. A marriage follows in 2013. At present the author, besides being a writer, is still continuing to work in the field of finance and mortgage lending.
