When I asked a man why - in one gospel record of the crucifixion - one of the two criminals called Jesus Lord, while in another gospel, they both reviled him, I was shown that there were four criminals executed alongside Jesus that day. Two were led with him at the start, and two others who arrived later. Once textually verified, I then asked, "What else have we all been taught that's wrong?" I'll never forget the answer: "Where do you want to start?"
That was 1978, and I've never stopped learning that much of what we "know" deserves to be questioned and evaluated for a long list of reasons.
