Olivier LAPRAY

Colonel Olivier LAPRAY is a graduate engineer from the French Air Force Academy, holds a Master 2 in history from the École pratique des hautes études (EPHE) and is a graduate of the École de guerre, where he was also a professor.

Having left the service, he is now a military historian. He has a particular interest in the french cavalry on the one hand, and the periods of the French Revolution and the First Empire on the other. He has written several books and detailed articles on these subjects, exploring the tactical, organizational and operational aspects of the cavalry under Napoleon Bonaparte, first in the magazines "Soldats Napoléoniens", "Figurines" and "Traditions" and, today, in books of which he is the author and annotated reissues.

Olivier Lapray is recognized for his in-depth research, particularly in military archives, and his rigorous approach. His publications provide detailed analyses of the battles, strategies and military personalities of the Napoleonic era, with particular emphasis on the crucial role of the cavalry. His works are often used as references by historians and military history enthusiasts.
