Brenda K. Baker

Brenda K. Baker was born in Bozeman, MT in 1973. She is an only child and spent much of her growing up interested in skiing, dancing, music and softball. The year Brenda went into first grade was the year that the school board opted to stop using phonics and replace it with the sight reading method. Brenda struggled with Dyslexia and was quickly taken out of the classroom and put into the classroom with the mentally handicapped kids. Many of Brenda's peers were brutal with their words and for many years Brenda accepted the fact that she was stupid and couldn't learn. She quickly left home, moved in with and eventually married an unsavory man and dropped out of high school when she was just 16. Brenda had several hard years in the school of hard knocks. When she found out she was pregnant with her first child she vowed to herself her child would not take the abuse she had from his father. At just 21 she was divorced and a single Mother. Brenda's story took a dramatic change for the better less than a year after her divorce when she met Mike. Mike was a constant source of love, compassion and helping Brenda to see her potential. Mike taught Brenda that dyslexia was only a label that was given but not who she was. Mike and Brenda married September 11, 1995 and have 5 sons. Their life together is amazing and they have become masters at seeing the lemons life throws at them as blessings. Brenda went from barely being able to read into her later 20's to being a successful blogger, writer and now author.

Brenda hopes that her legacy of never giving up will inspire others to push themselves to move forward and be a blessing to others. Brenda's first book Helping Others Helps Me is the road map of what helped her to thrive in all areas of her life.
