Jack Versiani Holt

Jack completed a Masters Degree in Wildlife Documentary Production and has applied this learning in effective digital communications. In his profession, he has consulted on how to effectively communicate through digital outlets and is also an accomplished photographer who has captured images around the world.

In Spring 2018 Jack was involved in a successful pilot project, presenting across a live-stream broadcast, allowing greater access to talks in rural Herefordshire (those who joined online were able to see the presentation live-streamed from the venue alongside the slides and video content from the presentation). The trial received such positive feedback and many requests from people wanting to know how to do the same for their own events. Publishing his first book (co-authored with Kevin Brewer) seemed to be the clearest way to help others learn, providing a guide on how to digitally live stream for themselves.

Jack explains “It’s easy to underestimate the value of bringing a community together for local events and shared experiences. Many organisations give talks and lectures for their own members and sometimes for their wider community. Modern technology can extend the reach of these events, via the internet, for people who can’t be there in person to attend digitally from the comfort of their computer screen. For those who are unable to attend in person, this digital tool can truly enhance their experience and bring the presence of a live event to the comfort of their home, bringing a much wider community closer together. The book helps break-down a technical subject, to allow anyone to learn this new life-skill, to help further engage and enhance the experience of those audiences.”

Jack continued “The most important key to successful live-streaming is good planning and preparation to ensure the smooth running of the live-stream, alongside good presentation skills. From my own experience in developing my presentation skills, I provide my best advice and top tips in this book to help the reader to understand how to present to a digital audience in a professional manner.”

Jack also created the cover design for his first book using a photograph he set up and captured specifically for the purpose.
